Introducing....

CJ Newborn_101028_0034-Edit

I've been waiting to post about the new addition to our family until at least one of the birth parents signed.  The birth mother just signed the paperwork!  The birthfather is being difficult and hasn't shown up for any of the meetings he was supposed to.  So we are going to have to serve him with paperwork with the court date.  The current court date is December 1st.  My guess is that is won't show up to the court date either, so the judge at that time will terminate his rights.

We are so in love with this little bundle.  I thank God every night for the strength and love for him that his birthmother had, to give him a life with 2 parents and an older brother.  It was not an easy decision and a very difficult process for her.  I know she will read this blog so I just want to tell her
Thank YOU.

As you see on the date he was born October 17th.  We were SUPPOSED to go to Vegas on the 21st for a good friends wedding.  Needless to say we cancelled our trip but a baby is totally better than Vegas.  (We did contact Allegiant ...apparently adopting a baby is a good reason for cancellation and they did something they normally don't do and gave us a full refund in the form of a voucher!....so we will be going somewhere before next May.)

When he was born the birth mother wanted 2 days with him, so we didn't get to bring him home until 2 days later.  He was born on Sunday and we brought him home on Tuesday.  We went to see him on Monday morning (18th) and got to spend some one on one time with him.  That is when we named him Carter Joseph.  It took us like 2 hours to come up with a final name.....it made it real.  We are planning on calling him Carter or CJ.  The birth mother picked Joseph for the middle name and asked us to keep it.  We were trying to come up with a J middle name so it worked out perfect.  Just one more example of God's hand in this adoption.

On Tuesday we picked him up from the birth mothers parents house instead of the hospital.  I know this had to be difficult for everyone involved, to bring him 'home' and then see him leave with us.  The birth mother has a great supportive family.

CJ LOVES to be held and cuddled.  I'm not convinced you can't spoil a newborn b/c every time you set him down he starts crying....and then stops crying as soon as you pick him up.  Little stinker.  Needless to say we have been sleeping on the couch or chair with him on our chest.  This will not last forever...I WILL figure out something to get him to sleep in his crib. ;)  I have until the end of December to figure this out, hopefully sooner as I am ready to sleep in my own bed.....but I wouldn't trade him for sleep any day of the week.  He is totally worth the lack of sleep.

Drew is in LOVE with his little brother as well.  He wants to hold and cuddle him ALL the time.  He is a great little helper.  He always has tons of kisses for CJ and always shows him off at 'school' by saying "Look. Look. This is Carter, my brother."  or he will say "I missed you today Carter" too cute for words.

Have I mentioned that we are over the moon about this little guy and thank God for placing him in our lives. He is truly a blessing and is the perfect fit for our now family of 4!  Its crazy to think we have 2 kids, we feel so blessed.  I don't know how many times I have said in the past couple of weeks "I love my family."

Carter is a long skinny baby with long fingers and long feet.  We put his fingers up to Drew's and Drew's are only a tiny bit bigger.  I'll try to get a picture up of that soon.  We like to joke that he can already palm a basketball. :)  He's newborn clothes SWIM on him but he is a good little eater so I'm sure before we know it he will grow out of those soon.....but for now he fits into the toy shopping cart.

So now that you have met our newest bundle of joy, I'm sure you will all love him as much as we do!

Please continue to pray for the birth family in this process and bring them peace and healing that they made the right decision.  Also pray for us as we adjust adding child #2 into our family and also with the stresses that come along with an adoption.

I'm very excited to be back blogging and will have some more posts to come soon!

Carter is such a blessing! He is in such a great home and will be loved by many. It was hard for you to hold back on the posting but the pictures are adorable. Drew will be a great helper in all this and will soon teach CJ the ropes. Love you all!
