Elf on the Shelf

I've been seeing this a lot on facebook and on blogs this year and last year and it looked SO fun and Drew is at that PERFECT age.  

The Elf is sent from Santa to watch over to make sure he is being a good little boy and goes each night after he is in bed to report back to Santa.  You can't touch him b/c otherwise he will loose his magic and you can talk to him but he can't talk to you.  Santa's rules.  Each night when he comes back he is in a different spot sometimes he has a little fun and is mischievous.  Just google Elf on the Shelf for more information or ideas of what people have come up with!  I'm not sure who will have more fun with this, me or Drew.  Makes me sad I don't have him every night to play this 'game'.  *sigh*

How did Drew come up with the name 'Mark'?

Well you read the book and it tells you to name the Elf to fully adopt him into your family.  Drew wanted to call him 'Santa' but I said he is Santa's elf and they can't have the same name.  In the book it lists some name suggestions and one was Markle.  He shortened it to Mark...most the time he just calls him Elf.  Lets just say naming things is not one of his strong suites.

p.s. We talk about the real meaning of Christmas as well and that Drew was born on Christmas Eve and Jesus was born on Christmas......this Elf and Santa are just for fun. :)
