Communication With Drew

Wow! Have I been good about blogging lately or what! Any who just thought I would give everyone an update on Drew's Communication and also this is where I keep tabs of what Drew is doing so that when I scrapbook I have something to reference, so bare with me!

He is starting to be a little mimic and repeats a lot of the sounds that we are making. He knows a few words, but they don't really sound entirely like the real thing...."Bah" = Ball, "Booh" = Book, and now "nah na" = Banana. I went to go get my video camera and it was dead...I had left it on when I put it away the last time (mental head slap) so it is charging..so I used the video on my camera so the sound isn't the greatest but you get the idea. Also the file size is smaller so I'm just going to post it below.

Drew communicates pretty well through sign language and his "words". His sign language for EAT and DRINK look pretty much the same so that is confusing at times, we don't know if he is hungry or if he wants a drink, but at least we know it is one of the two and its pretty easy to narrow down. Now WHAT he wants to eat is usually the guessing game! He also knows how to sign PLEASE, say "Buh Bye" and wave, and blow kisses but he is not showcasing these in this video. Oh yeah, and he is really good at saying "no no".

Animal sounds we are working on but he is not good at those yet. He will sometimes make the sound of a Sheep, Lion, Dog, and Monkey. When he was younger he was doing Lion and Monkey, but then he must have gotten bored with it because I kept asking him now he doesn't do it very much. Also when you ask him what sound an animal makes he does it in a whisper so you can barely hear it. Pretty funny.

Tonight after the video Brad and I were playing with him and it sounded like he was singing "EIEIO" so Brad started with the song and let him do the "EIEIO" part. It was funny, don't know if Drew knew what he was doing but it sounded awesome! Speaking of songs when you sing "If your happy and you know it clap your hands.." He claps.

Wow! I just realized by typing this that he is doing a lot lately! I swear he is doing something new everyday and he surprises me with something every day. Have I mentioned this 'mom' thing is pretty cool. =0)

Notes about video: Please ignore my voice, I hate the sound of my voice on video..apologize to those who have to listen to it every day. Drew is a MESS because he just came from daycare, and well, he is always a mess when I pick him up, but he was HUNGRY so we ate right when we got home. Enjoy!

You probably noticed the part in the video where Drew THROWS his cup. I do not like that he does this...I am open to any suggestions as to how to stop this!
